Our Dough

Thank you so much for visiting us today! As a passionate small business owner it means a lot that you support my food and what it represents. We strive for high quality, unique flavors, and healthy choices. To that end here are some qualities that set us apart you might not be aware of.

Sourdough, sourdough, sourdough!

Our traditional pizza and sub breads are all made with a 100% long ferment sourdough process that adds an immensely complex flavor profile. The nutrients in the dough break down more completely so that your body doesn't have as hard of a time digesting the gluten and other complex carbohydrates in the flour. We believe this leads to a much more pleasant eating experience.

Unbleached, unbromated heritage flour!

Did you know the vast majority of flour used in the US contains substances that are banned in other countries due to health concerns? Very Good Pizza flours are 100% natural! Before you buy any pizza you should ask what type of flour they use, and if it contains any ingredients that are banned for health reasons anywhere in the world then we suggest you take your hard earned dollars somewhere else.

Olive oil!

That's all. Our dough is made with 100% olive oil. No vegetable oils.

Fryer oil? We don't use it!

Our fried products are fried in 100% fat. Vegetable oils are unsaturated fats, and there's an overwhelming body of evidence they lead to a variety of health problems over time. Animal fats and natural oils like olive oil are saturated fats and made up more than 95% of the total fat calories consumed by our ancestors. Therefore, we believe we should be using fats and natural oils as much as we can.

No syrups or chemicals!

We trend away from high fructose corn syrup in preference for actual sugars like cane sugar, and honey.

We hope that you can see the great amount of care and detail we put into our foods. If you can help, the one thing I haven't been able to do is find a simple healthy ranch recipe. If you have a healthy ranch dressing recipe you'd be open to sharing, please let us know!
